Cando Wedges

Postural drainage is an important part of the respiratory care regimen of an SMA patient. Taking a "heads down" position (also called trendelenburg) can help to bring secretions in the lungs up toward the mouth, making them easier to cough up and suction out. Prominent SMA pulmonologists recommend postural drainage therapy on a daily basis as part of a comprehensive respiratory maintenance program.

The draining portion of a respiratory treatment can be 20 minutes long, so comfort is important. A basic bed pillow can be used for draining therapy, but doesn't create a signifiant angle and can be uncomfortable. A therapeutic wedge offers a more definite and significant angle which can increase effectiveness of draining, and also offers a firm, but cushy surface for comfort. These wedges are portable, making it easy to perform your respiratory treatments in any room of your home - or away from home!

Cando Wedges are an economical choice for postural drainage therapy! Filled with high compression urethane foam, these practical wedges are affordable and come in a variety of colors. The heavy-duty vinyl-coated nylon covers are wipeable for cleaning. Comes in 8" high for optimal draining, or 6" high for a more mild angle.

EZ-On Modified Vest

This modified vest enables children to be transported safely and securely while lying down. Shoulder adjusters enable the vest to "grow" with the child or adjust for outer clothing, while crotch straps keep the lower hip strap of the vest positioned over the pelvis. An extremity belt is included to hold an arm or leg in position as needed. Secures with existing seat belts.
